Hi
i am from korea. and also big fan of Don ross. i am searching for "silversmith" tab but it doesn't seem to work. anyway, have a good play there

Joe Hart - Friday, September 23rd, 2005 4:11 PM EDT
Hi Terry. I love the web site. The selections sound great! I'm a big fan of Don Ross also. He tried out a couple of my guitars but I don't think they were big enough for him! I finished one for Uncle Ray a couple weeks ago. He will be 80 in december. I just wanted to put a buzz in everyone's ear about that. We should have a "do" for him. Take care. Joe

Peter Bove - Monday, May 2nd, 2005 4:51 PM EDT
Hi Terry,
I found you through Google with the line "playing the clap". I am planning to make it my guitars' "lifes work" to learn this piece. Any ideas on the best way to learn it. Do you have an instructional video on this piece? Thanks and regards,
Peter

Ive been playing guitar for a long time, and have been doing fingerstyle for about 6 years. Hoping to make it to your workshop on the 23rd . cheers, Richard.

Hi Terry,

I caught your intro at the BRIX open stage in July. I meant to speak to you to compliment you on your performance. I could have listened to your stylings all night. I enjoyed your essay on being a professional musician. I am a devoted amateur. My partner (Alison) and I also perform at BRIX (Sept. open stage and will perform Oct. 2nd -possibly with a lead guitarist). If you drop by - bring your axe or you can use mine (I play a Gibson Chet Atkins designed SST which is set up like and acoustic - flat fretboard, and which I process through a Yamaha AG Stomp.I got your e-mail address from Colin O'Hanley whom you met last night at Dalley's in Pickering. I will probably join him at a Pickering open stage at some point. Colin and I have run an open stage on Sunday afternoons at Digger O'Dell's in Uxb. for the past year and a half. Digger's is presently under new ownership and is closed for renovation. We've had some indication that the new owner would like to keep the open stage going so we'll let you know if that happens.
Our musical tastes are similar - I also cover Bruce Cockburn but have yet to attempt a Don Ross cover (although there are many of his pieces that I'd love to learn). Lately, I have been inclined not to stray from standard tuning and drop D as I find major re - tuning to be a hastle and distraction when performing. I also play 'The Clap' by Steve Howe (the artist who inspired me to study jazz and classical music) and have started work on side 3 from 'Tales' by Yes. I also play celtic music (both songs and guitar solos) as well as light jazz ... I would encourage you to sing (both of your mentors do - Bruce and Don. A good way to start is by joining a community or church choir where you can feel comfortable singing in a group. Vocla lessons from a good teacher could also be helpful. If you're looking to expand your circuit try:
The Corner Coffee House in Newmarket
Le Maison du Cafe in the Cornell development in Markham (Norbert id the owner and you can reach him in the mornings at 905 201 - 1311)or there's a Bisro on Bayview Ave. North of 7 on the East side in a little plaza (the name escapes me at present) Colin and I have both played there.

Best of luck in everything Terry. I look forward to hearing you soon if possible.

Brian

You are a wonderful musician, hope to see you more often

Doug Haft - Thursday, August 5th, 2004 8:03 AM EDT
Hi Terry.... found your website via the Yahoo fingerstyle group. The page is really nicely done. I'm where you were 4 years ago... Starting Out. I've played in bands before, but not for years.. now I've caught the fingerstyle bug and started doing open mics etc. Your article really hit home! One question, how do you go about expanding repitore (sp?). And when do you say, "That arrangement is done." I find myself constantly trying to expand and over complicate songs before taking them public.. Any thoughts?

Anyway, again, great page. Good luck to you..

Dear Mr. Hart,

It's your grade OAC students Courtney and Ann Marie. We loved your chemistry classes... remember that one once day when we came to your class and you said sex instead of six and we cracked up! Oh dear! Well, we are graduated from university with honours degrees, and I (ann marie) am in grad school, and we just wanted to tell you about your tremendous impact on our lives with the "hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, carbon, nitrogen, fluorene, neon" hahahahhah..
much love xoxo

Hi, Terry! I was checking out the SOFGA site and noticed that you are the featured performer this Monday at the Pheasant Plucker in Hamilton. After listening to your excellent song samples, I will definitely be there!

This is an attractive site -- simple but classy. And my reaction to Terry having taken the time to include the "Starting Out" section in his website is that it reveals a friendly, generous nature -- willing to help others in the same boat. Very nice Terry. Happy Pickin'!

Patty - Monday, February 9th, 2004 7:15 AM EST
